Creating a Wedding Checklist

By Travis Stephenson

The excitement of getting engaged can be absolutely overwhelming. You will tell all your friends and family and pick a date and the planning stages will go from there. But in all of the excitement, did you stop to create something that will help keep you organized along the way? With everything coming at you so quickly, chances are good that you might overlook a few things.

Purchase a three ring binder to help keep you organized. This is great for keeping pictures, ideas and even a journal of your wedding day planning. Don't leave home without your wedding book so when something you may forget comes to mind, you can easily jot it down. On the first page is where you will put your checklist of things you must do.

Start by jotting down the obvious, like choosing a dress, a venue, and hiring a photographer. Now start to think of all the hundreds of little things that are very easy to over look. Things that may be included in this would be ordering corsages and wedding favors.

The next step in your wedding check list is to put it into a time line. Start with a year out from your wedding date, if possible and go from there. There are many websites that can help you create this time line or you can do what is most comfortable to you!

If you keep a proper checklist, and keep it in order, you will find that your wedding planning will go a lot more smoothly. You will also prevent yourself from having a nervous breakdown on your wedding day because you forgot the rice bags for your guests to throw as you leave the ceremony! The importance of a checklist to keep you organized should not be overlooked.
