Different Choices On Mobile Phone Family Plan

By Alex Sanders

Trying to shop for plans for family mobile phones, it must have become clear that they have been more and more expensive year after year. For example, Sprint has made an announcement to holder's plans family mobile phones that extra members would not get the employee discount they have expected in the past.

That would mean the bill is getting costlier as more and more people begin to step up their phone game. Verizon and AT&T have made the same announcements or at least fairly similar ones. Carriers made the recent changes more complex than what they are already. This can cause a bit of confusion, and some people might not even know for sure why they are charged a certain amount.

All companies have tried plans for add-ons to family mobile to make them more and more expensive every year. Every extra line cost $5 to $10 it seems like these days. Music, messaging, Facebook, movies etc all are available on the phone now. Carriers are now making more and more money by selling all these extra, profitable services to consumers. Traditionally, the family mobile phone was not a profitable business the way it was in the past.

Yet, because you can pool your talk time, family plans have a good appeal.

You should know that smart phones, with voice capability, have tremendous data storage facility, when it given to your children, that costs more as in the case of T-mobile who a charge hefty $40 for data storage facility.

A few carriers charge extras for data and text for separate line in a family plan. Everyone in the family can also get a different plan.

To avoid confusion in decision making you should make a study of the pattern of usage by the family. If data is of not much use to the family, having everyone a separate line will be good. Sprint charges $5 for text messages containing up to 300 words.

There is a general feeling that unlimited plans are the safest way to go. This may not be workable in all cases. Family plans have this facility of unlimited talk time for use between family members.
