Those Who Donate Non Profit Help Those Who Are Truly In Need

By Nelda Rich

For the most part, people in general have very big hearts. They know when they have plenty and when they may even be living in the lap of luxury. Many of us enjoy the extras that we have and are fortunate enough to afford. Often we want to give back to those who have less than we do but we are not always quite sure how to do it. Those who think about giving their money and time to donate non profit usually give so much more back than they realize.

With all the financial problems that the state and federal government seem to have these days, it is becoming more and more difficult for smaller agencies to keep their doors open. Their revenue comes directly from the budget, so when that is affected, so is the agencies income. The agencies that work non profit are often hit the hardest in terms of financial cuts and services even though these seem to be what people need the most.

Agencies such as these are often under valued in our society. They are the ones that help the homeless, the disabled, the unwed mothers, the battered women and deal with the issues that many others would like to forget exists. They often find that the only way to deal with the cut in finances is to raise funds on their own. This is why you will see many fliers advertising upcoming fund raisers.

Many companies are looking to spend their money on an agency that needs the help. This provides the company with the opportunity to become involved, get their name known out in the community and use their donation for a write off. The problem is that many agencies need the help and many of the companies are already focused in on one of them.

It is more rare to find people as individuals donating to a company, although there are still some that do. So holding a fundraiser such as a spaghetti dinner or a crab feed will often capture the attention of many people. They have the opportunity to have dinner with their friends and still donate to a worthy cause.

The money that is made from fund raising could be very little or quite a bit. It really depends on how many people show up and the word of mouth and advertising that gets out. Whatever agency that it is, you can be sure that the money they raise will go to a good cause.

For those who donate non profit, their money is used in so many important ways. Not only are they helping those who have far less than they do, but they are investing in themselves as a valued and supportive human being.
