Some handy tips for bridal makeup

By Louisa Farrelly

1. Beauty Regimen to be followed before the big day

For that perfect glow on the wedding day, you want to consider a few things a fortnight prior to the wedding day. About six weeks before the wedding, you need to start a skin and nail care plan. Tell your beautician to give you regular facials and manicures.

Avoid going in sun about 3-4 weeks prior to the marriage. Sunburns and peeling skin should not disrupt your big day.

2. Look after your Body-Mind-Spirit

Always remember the importance of Body-Mind-Spirit. What's going on within you is as crucial as looking good. We all know that preparing for a wedding is very intense and if you're not taking good care of yourself by not sleeping enough or not eating properly, it'll definitely think on your face!

If you're feeling really stressed before the marriage, consider having a chilled massage once each week in the month of wedding and also a day before the big day. Also, burn some relaxing essential oils round the house to help calm your nerves.

3. Trial

Organise a trial around 1-2 months before the marriage, once you have chosen your make-up artist.

Ask the make-up artist to show you 1 or 2 photos from magazines that may help you in deciding a look.

Tell her if you have any skin problems or allergies etc or if there are any actual ways you wear your make-up.

If you are marriage is during the day, it is perfect to organize the trial during the day as it'll give you a better idea as to how the make-up will look

4. Have photos your wedding dress and bridesmaid's dresses

If you show the make-up artist photos of your bridal dress and bridesmaids wedding gowns, it will give her/him the concept for designing the ideal look for you.

5. What look to go with

The style that you plan to choose for your marriage make-up will finally depend on your personal preference, but there are some other considerations that you must consider:

The time of the event A lot relies on the time of the wedding. Is it during day time or in the evening? A subtle, natural look is better fitted to a day wedding and a more striking look is suited to an evening one.

If you're blond or have a light-skinned, cool tones of gray, blue, soft pink and lilac are ideal for you.

If you are a brunette or olive skinned, warm neutral tones of brown, taupe, burgundy & red will suit you more.

6. Your Face

Foundations with yellow undertones work perfectly with flash photography.

Avoid using shimmer highlighters as this look won't look well in photos and give a reflective shine.

Ask your make-up artist to use a bronzing powder, it will warm up your skin tone and wll give your face a natural glow.

7. Your Eyes

The make-up around your eye-area should be soft and natural with no heavy, dark lines.

Utilize a brow pencil which is a little darker than your hair color and keep away from heavy, dark shadows.

8. Your Lips

Utilise a lip-liner which is of the same color as your lipstick and don't use a conspicuous or dark lip line, it is tacky.

If you outline one area in your make-up, it'll look more pleasing. If you'd like dark and outlined eyes, go for a lighter lip shade and if you want bright lips, go for natural, light eyes.

Just remember these tips and you will look the most beautiful bride on your big day.
