A Guide Of How To Help End Major Snoring Issues

By Keri Johnson

Most of us snore at least once in awhile. For some people, snoring is much more serious and severe. While the majority of people fall into the once in awhile category for snoring, it would still be nice to know how to stop. A few small changes at night can help the snoring end.

One important way to stop snoring, as well as help you improve the way you breath is to focus on not breathing through your mouth. When you breath through your mouth the jaw lowers and the tongue pulls in. If you try to change your breathing every time you catch yourself mouth breathing, you can train yourself to breath better.

The position you lay in when you sleep can have a lot to do with your snoring. If you make it so you sleep on you side instead of your back it will make snoring not as frequent. Using pillows you can place one behind your back and the other between your legs to be comfortable and remain on your side. Some people have tried a tennis ball sewn to the pajamas to make them turn back over when they roll onto their backs.

If your nose and throat are moist it can help reduce snoring. Nose or throat sprays can be useful. A humidifier will keep the air you breath moist while you sleep.

Nasal strips are a useful product on the market today. These strips adhere to the outside of your nose and open the airways. Children that snore can find relief with them too.

When a person is exhausted it is more likely that he or she will snore. If you set a routine for sleeping and make sure to get enough rest, it will help eliminate the snoring.

For people that smoke it can be harder to eliminate snoring. Smoking causes sleep apnea and changes the amount of mucus you have. A smoker's airways are also going to be inflamed.

Being overweight also affects your snoring. Drinking alcohol relaxes the airways also. When a person is overweight there is more flesh to flap around and get in the way of air flow. Losing weight may actually eliminate the snoring.
