How To Make A Relationship Work - 4 Simple Tips

By Sarah Scott

Ups and downs are part and parcel of relationships. Normally when two people first get together they are extremely happy to be around one another. But it's not always easy to keep the happy times forever in a relationship. There are 4 important elements in keeping a relationship going in difficult times, which you can make work for you if you want to.

To say sorry is a key factor. It's almost certain that sometime in your relationship you or your partner will make an error. The mistake could be minor such as not being somewhere when you say you will be or could be major as in an affair.

If you've messed up then say sorry and swallow your pride. Even at times when you didn't make a mistake, you should still listen to your partner's attempts to say sorry. Normally you can patch up a relationship breaking down if the apology is sincere and you are willing to work on improving things for the better.

I'm sure you were thinking that you would live the rest of your life in blissful happiness. You should be true to yourself though. It's important to remember that our relationship is not the be all and end all in case things don't go according to plan.

If you do different things at times from your partner that is pretty healthy for your relationship. Relax and spend some time with your friends. You should head off to the shops or have a few drinks with mates if you feel you want to do something else. Not only will you feel a lot better, you will also appreciate your partner and talk to them when you see them next.

Ensure you stick with each other when deciding things. You tend in most relationships to have one person who takes control and one who follows their directions. Whether this is the male or female in the relationship, it is still vital to make decisions together.

It's easy for things to get stale in a relationship if you have just one of you making all the decisions. It's important for you to make things more varied. Allow your partner to make choices if you have made the decisions one day. You could even make things fun as if it were a game. Even if it seems stupid then that's fine.

Motivate yourself and ensure your relationship works. You should understand that relationships take a lot of hard work and effort. Both of you will argue on occasion with your partner. A relationship is not worth continuing in this case through some eyes.

Or, instead of giving up you can try and dedicate yourself to improving things. If you want your relationship to work then one of the biggest factors is not to hide when things get tough. Have a conversation with your partner to try to ascertain what has gone wrong. Make sure you don't lay blame with either of you and have an open talk and if you do this then you may be able to work out problems.

If you give up as soon as there are problems in a relationship then you will not likely be able to sort things out. If you can make your relationship last then this can be truly rewarding. It's the best feeling in the world to know that you have someone you can trust and rely on with everything. Your partner and yourself will enjoy the benefits that these 4 tips create.
