Popularity of Vintage Diamond Rings across the Years

'Diamonds are a women's best friend', this quote has been doing rounds for many years. The attraction that a diamond gem has is, marveling. Diamonds were said to be discovered in India initially, though the origin still remains a mystery for some. This is the birthstone for the people born in April.

Diamonds were imported in Europe beginning in the 14th century and they soon become the symbol of power, strength, and well-being. The aura of a rich individual is radiated by the person wearing it.

Vintage Diamond Rings were very popular and have been used for generations. While the jewelries today are produced by machines, the vintage jewelries of the past were crafted with hands which gave them a completely unique touch. There were various era's of vintage diamond rings and they include:

The Victorian Era - From 1837 to 1901, an era named after the Queen of Britain has experienced scarcity in gold which has made diamonds an alternative to making a ring valuable. These vintage diamond rings have been crafted with serious and dark designs after the husband of the queen died.

The Edwardian Era - For a short period of time from 1901 to 1910, the upper middle class masses lifted up the standards of wearing diamond rings and complementing it with their costumes. The vintage rings weigh lighter during this era and have a lighter look.

The Retro vintage Era - The demands for precious gems had increased at the beginning of the 1930's, however as the era draw closer to its end on 1980s, the diamond ring had lost its luster and charm as gold reclaimed its popularity.

All these eras symbolize the different designs of diamond rings and also the changing needs and tastes of people. There is a list of years in which the vintage diamond rings were very high on demand and in some years their popularity decreased.

Only the popularity had decreased. This doesn't mean that people stopped buying them once and for all. Diamonds and all other gems have their own admirers and people who like to wear them and collect them in their jewelry boxes keep on buying them.

Even today, diamonds remain the heartthrob of many ladies. Diamond rings are the most preferred one for engagement ceremonies. Gifting a vintage diamond ring has become a trend, and it is also a great way to show love, care and gratitude towards your partner.

These diamonds have allure and appeal and it creates an additional niche to the overall appearance of an individual, whether they are for engagement rings or the collections.
